Gameboy Flash Linker Cables vs. GBA Flash Writer
In general all gba flash linkers can be used for creating game backups. Another important function of a linker is connecting PC to a Flash Card for writing roms to the cartridge.
There are two main types of linkers

On PC side both connect to USB port. You need to install drivers & software on PC.

For game backup put cartridge in GBA or SP and connect this linker to Game Boy Advanced multiplayer link port.

For backup operations slide the cartridge into the write box. |
Advantages:
+ More compact than external writer.
+
XG2T can be used to recharging SP
+ EZFA and ECube can access gba internal ram memory and load small roms to it.

Advantages:
+ Compatible with Nintendo DS.
+ Draws power from the USB port

Disadvantages:
- Some models drain GB battery when writing.
- linker is NOT compatible with Nintendo DS because NDS doesn't have a link port. |
Disadvantages:
- Larger in size than simple USB cable

All the micro schemes are built into the cable

The cable is a standard usb a-to-b type that you would use for a printer or other external devices - all the chips are placed inside the writer box. |

First Gameboy Link Cables were made for connecting to PC Printer Port, but as the time goes on and not all computers nowadays have Parallel / Printer port - NEW cables are made for USB now and old ones like FA PRO and FA Turbo have gone out of production.
